A healthy gut reduces systemic inflammation, helps us manage stress, not get sick and even affects our moods. Systemic inflammation has a major profound effect of athletic performance. Your gut impacts your body’s ability to stay hydrated and avoid dehydration. Your gut health also affects your recovery time after a workout. The immune system responds to the inflammation and muscle damage caused by exercise and because the immune system is mostly housed in the gut and influenced by your gut microbiota and their food source, it makes sense to build this system up so you can get the performance you want from your body when exercising and recovering.
To help you achieve this, Gut Performance contains cordyceps and 3 types of prebiotic fiber.
This all-in-one supplement contains:
- Prebiotics: 3 sources of prebiotics fiber (Acacia Gum, Chicory Root – Inulin, Chia Seeds)
- L-Glutamine
- Cordyceps Mushroom (heat activated for better absorption)
- Kefiran – probiotics sourced from water kefir scoby.
- Zinc
WHAT ARE CORDYCEPS?
Cordyceps are a type of mushroom recognised for their ability to support vitality, stamina, and endurance. Their naturally occurring compounds improve oxygen availability in the blood. Cordyceps are a clean source of energy for athletes and contain amino acids, the building blocks of proteins as well as vitamins and minerals and prebiotic fibers. Cordyceps support cardiac function and respiratory health by improving oxygen consumption. This in turn improves availability of oxygen to exercising muscles. Studies have shown that cordyceps also help with overall endurance and recovery and increase blood flow to the liver.
As an adaptogen cordyceps help the body when challenged by infection and inflammation. Cordyceps have been found to help the elderly too by reducing fatigue, boosting strength, and improving sexual function.
Cordyceps contain a special sugar that mimics insulin and can help cells to absorb glucose and keep blood sugar in a health range. Cordyceps are used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for arrhythmia, a condition of irregular heartbeat and for lowering triglycerides and LDL levels, to reduce symptoms of respiratory disorders, colds, coughs, and liver damage. These mushrooms boost immune function and reduce inflammation and are beneficial in the treatment of inflammatory related conditions such as Chron’s disease, arthritis, leaky gut, and asthma.
The cordyceps in Gut Sport is heat activated for better absorption.
WHAT ARE PREBIOTICS?
A healthy gut starts with feeding it the right foods.
What is the prebiotic vs probiotic difference? Well probiotics wouldn’t even be able to do their job without prebiotics. These little non-digestible fiber compounds are known as Oligosaccharides. They ferment in the body and results in a whole bunch of good-for-you effects including feeding the microbes, weight loss, improved immune system. Prebiotics are compounds derived from non-digestible carbohydrates that confer health benefits to the host by selectively stimulating the growth of intestinal bacteria.
WHAT IS KEFIRAN?
The kefir grain or scoby has a varying and complex microbial composition that includes species of yeasts, lactic acid bacterial (LAB), acetic acid bacteria (AAB) and fungi. All these microorganisms may have a probiotic potential. Kefir is a beverage which is produced by the mixture of the diverse spectrum of microbial species. The largest portion present in water kefir are Lactobacilli, accounting for around 65 – 80% of the microbial population. The Lactococci and yeasts constitute the remaining portion of the microbes present in the kefir grain. Fresh kefir grains are carefully dehydrated to ensure the continued life of the probiotics.
ZINC
Zinc has been added for the building of the gut lining.
L-GLUTAMINE
L Glutamine is an amino acid which helps with gut health as it improves the mucus production which protects the lining and in which the gut bacteria live, and it boosts immune cell activity in the gut reducing inflammation and soothing intestinal tissue. It also improves digestion and brain health.
