Star Anise is easily recognised by its star shape and heady aroma – despite its sweetness, Star Anise is traditionally used in savoury recipes and the sweet-peppery-licorice flavour pairs particularly well with pork. It is used in many Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian dishes of which Biryani is a sure favorite.
