When I first came home with the intention of starting up a cooking school I knew I had to come up with a new name a new look and a new feel. While I was in Korea my cooking business there Che-ke & Bake was a roaring success. I spent hours making South African/Western Food for all the expats in the city I lived in, Daegu. Now, I am in South Africa making most Korean food for South Africans? Who would have thought! Che-ke & Bake existed in a beautiful time in my life but now I needed something fresh and TA DAA Che Gourmet was born.

I am the biggest fan of things that rhyme so was over the moon when my cousin come up with the name and tag line, taste – learn -create. It fit perfectly! Then the tedious process of colours, fonts etc started but with some time and patience we eventually got there 😛 I got labels designed as well through a referral from a friend and slowly but surely the Che Gourmet dream was starting to come alive. Now in this new beautiful year we have done a mini overhaul of our original looking labels and bangarang we give you our new look.

One new addition to our labels features a Nutritional Panel, required by The Labelling Regulations of South Africa (amongst a million other things) and this was done by a very well know food scientist based in Johannesburg. A lot of people might not know this but I actually studied Food Science for a while at university so it was such fun going back to that time reliving hours behind microscopes and even more hours figuring out chemical structures.

We are all about AUTHENTICTY and INTEGRITY here at Che Gourmet; which is why our Kimchi, Krauts, Kimchi Salt and new products are all tested, providing you the most accurate information. If it’s not inside, it’s not on the label!

All the Kimchi Love

Che Gourmet <3
